Product description

“What I want,” Laura declared, “is to have a life packed with excitement like some of the characters in my books.”

When orphaned Laura Marlin is sent from the children’s home to live with her uncle in Cornwall, she dreams of a life of excitement just like the characters in her favourite detective novels. But when she gets to Uncle Calvin’s spooky house, she is confronted with mysteries. Nothing is as it seems. Is Tariq, the shopkeeper’s silent son, a friend or an enemy? Why does her uncle seem so intent on hiding his past? And why is everyone so afraid of Dead Man’s Cove? When Laura finds a message in a bottle, she starts to investigate. But this deadly quest will test her detective skills to the limit – and put her on a collision course with villains who will stop at nothing to get their own way. Laura’s adventures begin in this first captivating mystery from the bestselling author of the White Giraffe series.

Winner of the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award 2011.

    Full of mystery and adventure

I really enjoyed Dead Mans Cove because it was packed full of mystery and adventure. It was very much like the Famous Five and Secret Seven series` by Enid Blyton!
Laura Marlin is an orphan who lives at Sylvan Meadows, when her uncle, Calvin Redfern claims her she is sent to St Ives, Cornwall. At St Ives she makes new friends, a boy named Tariq and a 3 legged Siberian Husky, Skye. Her uncle is a detective who is always out and about solving mysteries, one night Laura decides to follow him! The next day Laura gets captured by a member of the Straight A gang and ends up being sent to Dead Man's Cove.
Will Laura escape the Straight A`s, well you will have to read the book to find out!
I rate this book 10/10, one of the best books I have ever read, definitely a book for Blyton Fans!
