Our February 2021 Ages 3-4 Book of the Month

I know there are so many books out there for those legions of unicorn fans, but my pick this month offers just that little bit extra. Not only do you get a satisfying and enchanting rhyming tale and a super shiny cover, but somewhere hidden on each page is a secret unicorn to search and find! The flow and rhythm of the text are perfect for expressive reading aloud and sharing. Rhyming books are great because they introduce children to how language works, get them listening to sounds, build word recognition and encourage them to make predictions for what might happen next – all great skills for becoming a reader.

I’m a big fan of Katy Halford’s artwork, and we know from our book sales that lots of you feel the same! Bright, eye-catching colours and adorable characters really do grab your attention and that’s all-important in getting kids to fully engage with books.
