Product description

The future meets the legendary past in this edge-of-your-seat new series by the author of Young Sherlock Holmes!

Calum Challenger is a boy with a mission: to track down supposedly mythical creatures and capture their DNA. But while Calum and his friends battle to save these beings, an murderous pharmaceutical company is fighting to wipe them out. In this first adventure, Calum and a group of misfit mates – a computer hacker, a freerunner, an ex-marine and a girl with a chip on her shoulder – criss-cross the globe, searching for creatures to save. But they must stay one step ahead of their enemies, who plan to kill the elusive beasts… and won’t hesitate to take them out too.

“What a blast. Weird murders, creepy villains, fiendish puzzles, non-stop action – what more could you want from a book?” Charlie Higson

“Lane’s writing is detailed, with scenes of exquisite terror… This is a world of shadowy conspiracies and sinister groups who have agents everywhere… nothing is what it seems. A hugely enjoyable treat.” Daily Telegraph

    Exciting and different

Having enjoyed all the young Sherlock books I was thrilled to be asked to review the first of this new series from Andrew Lane. The hunt for a lost species is exciting and different from anything I have read in a long time. The unexpected twists and turns leave you unable to predict how the story will develop. My favourite character Callum overcomes many challenges including his paralysis and in doing so made me change the way I think about disabled people. You will not want to put this book down and already I’m looking forward to the next instalment.
