Product Description

Imagine a world where beauty is compulsory. Tally’s nearly sixteen, on the verge of cosmetic surgery that will transform her looks and life. On her birthday, they’ll turn her from an “Ugly” into a “Pretty”, giving her supermodel looks and a perfect future of boys, good times and parties. Tally can’t wait – until she meets Shay. She’s also fifteen, but with a very different outlook. Shay is convinced that the price of prettiness is much more than skin deep. She plans to run away to a secret forest community – the Rusty Ruins – to escape the “turning”. At first, Tally thinks she’s crazy. Shay’s plan means sacrificing prettiness – the only thing Tally’s ever wanted. But when Tally is arrested and sent to the Ruins to spy for the authorities, what she discovers proves that there’s nothing pretty about the transformations. How much must Tally risk to keep her true identity?
