Product description
It’s the Second World War, and all across the country, men are being called up. But Lizzie’s dad is a pacifist. He refuses to fight. Then one terrible day, the police come to arrest him for refusing the draft. Desperate to stay together, Lizzie and her brother Freddie go on the run with him, hiding from the police in idyllic Whiteway. But when their past catches up with them, they’re forced to leave. How can they stay together as a family? Hunted as enemies in their own country, will they ever be safe? A thrilling and poignant Second World War adventure, told through the eyes of a girl whose father is a conscientious objector.

on 1 March 2011A great book! It is a very emotive novel that makes you laugh at points and makes you feel sad a lot of the time! This book is very hard to put down and I’d recommend it to anyone. It has many different and influencing characters that make the book brilliant. It’s well worth a read.
