    Scholastic Book Bag Readers

The diversity of the stories and the colourful contemporary illustrations are as suggested, the only issue is with the contrivance of some of the stories to fulfil the restrictions of the phonics for that particular stage (an issue with all reading schemes).

My concern lies with the quality of the product - inferior cover cardboard that cracks at the spine with rather thin pages. These books, unfortunately, will not last long in the hands of children, especially when they’re taken home. Another observation is the lack of consistency with the font choice; whilst I understand the title and inner information pages might differ, the main choice for the story font changes - the letter ‘f’ is especially noticeable…

However, overall, this set of 52 books has certainly added breadth to the reading options for early readers.
