Product description
A gripping and heartfelt war story from Britain’s best-loved children’s author, Michael Morpurgo.
Turned away by his own son, Cessie’s long-lost grandfather finds himself in the place he fears most – a nursing home called Shangri-La. Only Cessie loves him and is determined to help him escape and unravel the truth of his past. A past that comes to him only in glimpses – a lifeboat, a tin of condensed milk, a terrifying night on the beaches of Dunkirk in World War II …
Former Children’s Laureate and award-winning author of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo, demonstrates why he is considered to be the master story teller with this tale of strife and loss in World War II.

on 31 January 2015This book is a mixture of feelings as for its as if you’re there. It also tells you how you shouldn’t judge a person how they look.It may even be one of your relatives.Additionally, you should always treat a person with respect even though you don’t know them however it does not mean to go wherever they go as for its for your own safety

on 8 December 2012Escape from Shangri-la is a very emotional book, and it surprises you a lot if you actually read it, as you would expect Shangri-La to be some tropical island somewhere, but it is actually a nursing home!!!!!This book is a must-have and is great for people who like really emotional stories
