Product Description

Twelve-year-old Jess is grieving for her beloved Aunt Edie, and anxiously awaiting the birth of twin brothers, when she finds a mysterious glass flask hidden in a desk. The flask is strangely beautiful to Jess, and she begins to believe that it contains a magical life-force. When the twins are born critically ill, a strange conviction takes hold of Jess. Could their survival depend on what’s happening to the flask…? This unforgettable novel from Nicky Singer, author of the sensational Feather Boy, explores the meaning of life and the connected nature of things in a unique and haunting way.

‘The Flask’ by Nicky Singer is a magical and exciting book. The main character, Jess, is a loving and anxious person. When her aunt Edie dies, she has to deal with the problems she has to face and can’t escape. The power of the mysterious flask helps her come to terms with the situation. This book is absorbing and I read it quickly because I wanted to find out what happened to her two baby half-brothers. I would recommend ‘The Flask’ to readers aged 9-13 who like mystery.
