David Walliams

David Walliams is a comedian, writer and actor and is best known for his partnership with Matt Lucas on the hugely popular sketch show Little Britain.

David and Matt met in 1990 at the National Youth Theatre and were brought together by their shared love of Reeves and Mortimer. The pair wrote three bestselling series of Little Britain between 2003 and 2005, and the series spawned both a live stage show and US spin off. They have also starred in other TV and stage productions, including Rock Profile and Come Fly With Me.

David is also well known for his charitable work for Sports Relief, part of Comic Relief. He took up swimming in his youth because he was overweight, and has subsequently completed long distance swims of the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar and the River Thames, raising millions of pounds for charity!

In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake. This was followed by Mr Stink in 2009, which won the Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Award, the inaugural People’s Book Prize and is currently being adapted into a stage musical. Billionaire Boy followed in 2010, and has won several prizes including the Sheffield Children’s Book Prize and the Stockport Book Award. Gangsta Granny was published in 2011 and quickly became of the bestselling children’s books of the year.

David’s next project will be as a judge on the new series of Britain’s Got Talent, alongside Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon.

    This is my fave book by far!!! I love David Walliams’ other books but this one was awesome! I even cried at the end!!!!! I would totally reccomend this book to other people! i read it in a day but i wished it could have lasted longer! If you like this book you will love his other books!

    Gangsta Granny just made me laugh. Walliams made it entertaining, yet well written and enjoyable. I would recommend for younger readers who would like to laugh! It has a fantastic plot line, portrayed in the silliest way, yet it manages to work and make a brilliant book!

    OH MY DOG did I just read a review that said that this book was bad!!!!!!!!!!!I loved this book and it is sad at the end I will say what happens at the end so u don’t have 2 read the whole book…...... LIKE I WOULD RUIN THE BOOK BUY THIS NNNOOOOOWWWW

    11year old Ben detests staying at his grandma’s bungalow every Friday night. Whilst his mom and his chubby dad go and watch Strictly Dancing,having a good time, all he has is cabbage soup and pie. Although, strangely, unlike his mom and dad Ben hates dancing and all he really cares about is plumbing. Until one day his granny is not so boring after all…

    One night Ben opens up a biscuit tin to find GEMS! Not any old gems but diamonds, sapphires,rubies and emeralds! That night James had lots of things running through his mind such as why does she have them? when did she get them? and most importantly how did she get them?

    What I really like about the book is mainly the illustrations which are very detailed but the story line is great.I like the way it makes you laugh but makes you think about the characters as well.

    The age group is 9+ and both boys and girls.It would be brilliant for something like a book club or a club like that.
