The Saint Lucia Postcard Competition - Enter now

Win free books for your school – £2000 to be won!

We’re asking your pupils to design and write a postcard to children at a school in Saint Lucia, talking about their life in the UK and asking about the children’s lives in the Caribbean. What do you think the differences might be? What would be the best things about living in Saint Lucia? What would you like to see and do? For more inspiration, you can watch some videos from children at a Saint Lucian school.

On the back of the postcard, draw, paint or use different materials to create a picture inspired by Saint Lucia. This could focus on any element of the island – whether the landscape, the Piton Mountains, the history, the plants and animals, the people, day to day life…or even the chocolate! You can either create one BIG postcard with your whole class, or each one of the pupils can create their own individual postcards.

To enter, simply download and print one of the postcard templates below, ask your pupils to create their postcards, and then send them back to us. You may enter by scanning the postcards and emailing them to funstuff@scholastic.co.uk with the subject line ‘UK Saint Lucia Postcard Competition’. Please ensure that you include the pupil’s name on each postcard and that you include the school name and address and a teacher’s email address with your school’s entries. Please note that we are not currently accepting postal entries. The closing date for entries is the 12th February 2021.

Entries will be judged in three different age categories:
  • Early years
  • Key Stage 1
  • Key Stage 2

We’ll be notifying the winning schools in early April 2021. Winning schools will receive free books for their school. The prize total is £2000, to be split between the winning schools.
