Author/Illustrator

Sandy Ransford

Sandy Ransford was born in Yorkshire and trained as a physiotherapist before starting her publishing career. She worked as an editor on Hamlyn Paperbacks’ children’s list, Beaver Books, and as non-fiction editor on their adult list. She has also worked in educational trade publishing, and for the Reader’s Digest magazine. In the 1980s she was managing editor/editor/writer with Gyles Brandreth’s companies, Victorama and Complete Editions, and for the last ten years has worked as a freelance writer. Over the years she has produced over 70 books: on jokes, puzzles, activities, the environment, animals and horses and riding. She has ridden all her life and is the proud owner of an Arab mare, plus two small ponies. She now lives on a smallholding in rural mid-Wales with her architect husband, the horses, two pygmy goats, two sheep and a cat.
