Carolyn Bryan

Carolyn Bryan is a part-time teacher in KS2 at a junior school in the West Midlands and for the past 10 years she has been the D&T coordinator. She contributed to the writing of the QCA Scheme of Work for D&T as well as several DATA publications to support the deliver of the QCA scheme in school.

She runs a successful Young Engineers Club after school, which has led to pupils winning competitions at a national level. She has also written an activity pack for Young Engineers to enable other teachers to start their own after school D&T clubs.

Adrienne Dawes

Adrienne Dawes trained as a primary school teacher and has now worked in education for 30 years. She has taught across the full primary age range in a variety of schools before becoming a teacher advisor for primary design technology and art and design in Lancashire. As a teacher advisor working for Learning Excellence, she has tutored on many courses covering the foundation stage, ks1 and ks2. She has written several books on the subject of design and technology which are published by ‘Topical Resources’ and delivers courses for YPO (Yorkshire purchasing organisation) Adrienne believes that through practical activities children’s creativity and interest are stimulated and their achievements celebrated.

Sandie Kendall

Sandie Kendall has taught throughout the Primary age range in schools in South East London. She is currently an independent design and technology consultant who worked for Croydon QDI for 13 years as Advisor for D&T and School Improvement. She is an experienced author and design and technology educator. She received the D&T Association Teacher Trainer Award in 2004. Sandie has tutored on the National D&T Subject Leaders course since the funding commenced.

Barbara Mottershead

Barbara has extensive experience in secondary schools as a food teacher and as a subject leader at middle management level. She has a thorough understanding of all material areas in design and technology whilst maintaining a specialist interest in food technology. Her work as an Advisory Teacher has involved the delivery of professional development at primary and secondary level.

Barbara is an Area Trainer for the Food Partnership Programme – a national Government project providing free training in food for primary teachers. She is also a Consultant to the Licence to Cook programme and Let’s Get Cooking (a national project setting up cooking clubs).

Barbara regularly presents seminars and workshops at national conferences and has authored a number of curriculum resource materials.

Nerys Tudor Jones

Nerys Tudor Hughes is currently in her tenth year of teaching at Rogerstone Primary School in Newport, South Wales where she has responsibility for Design and Technology INSET as well as training NQTs and more senior staff in the effective delivery of DT in the classroom. She has co-ordinated D & T projects for Newport LEA where schemes of work and support materials have been produced. Nerys has written for DATA and for other magazines and journals and is currently working with ACCAC and a multimedia company to produce CD-Roms supporting Design and Technology.
