Product description

The development of a railway network throughout Britain was one of the major feats of the Industrial Revolution. This was a huge turning point in British History, making it a perfect subject for the KS1 History curriculum.

The period between 1830 and 1850 is often referred to as ‘railway mania’. During this time, thousands of kilometres of track were laid nationwide, stations constructed, bridges built and tunnels, cuttings and embankments dug by skilled engineers and vast armies of labourers working largely without any form of machinery.

This factsheet tells you all you need to know about the coming of the railways during the Industrial Revolution – a major turning point for Britain that forms a key part of the KS1 History programme of study.
