Product description

When Jayni, her mum and little brother Kenny run away from her violent dad, they decide it’s time to live the way they want to, for a change. So Jayni transforms herself into fabulous, glamorous Lola Rose – an exotic girl based on the stories she reads in magazines. But Lola’s new life isn’t quite as perfect as her new name. And when things get tough and mum goes into hospital, will Jayni manage to be as grown-up as Lola? A warm, funny and moving story which explores real-life themes of domestic violence and escape.

Jayni and her mum and her little brother kenny, ran away from home far, far, far away from their dad. Things are going well when Jayni and Kenny’s Mum gets very ill and that’s not their toughest problem. Will their Dad ever find them in their New home…..

Jayni is living in some council flats, they are always strapped for cash until one day Jayni’s mum Nikki wins £10,000 on the lottery. Jayni, Nikki and little brother Kenny have to run away when her dad becomes violent and lashes out at them. I found this book very good. Sometimes scary and sometimes joyful, you never know what is going to happen next.

You may think Lola Rose is just another book about family problems and love and kisses, but once you read the first couple of chapters you get what this book is really about. I do like this book, even though in some parts the plot could become quite boring and predictable. It’s not my favourite Jacqueline Wilson book, but overall it’s a great book, touching, action-packed and beautifully written. Lola Rose (or Jayni) is one of my favourite characters in the book, as she is so brave and creative, with her fab scrapbook.

I’m still reading it but so far its good….. Its about a girl called Jayni who has a farther (JAY). Her dad hits and punches her mum(NIKKI). When he hits Jayni fotr the first time they fled with her brother Kenny to london while he was out drinking. They change their names…..Jayni becomes Lola rose, Nkki becomes Victoria and Kenny becomes Kendal. I reccomend it for older children atleast over 9. Her mum gets a lump and goes to hospital so Jayni has to act more grown up than she is….,..Its a amazing book but i I dont think its reccomendeed for small children…...

This is a truly brilliant read for older children as it touches on some rather upsetting but true subjects. Lola is telling the story from her point of view and it gives it a really good and true view of the whole situation. It is definitely a tear jerker but it does have some really happy and exiting moments! I would definitely recommend this book to any Jackie readers aged about 10+
