Product description

Anne of Green Gables is the classic children’s book by L M Montgomery, the inspiration for the Netflix Original series Anne with an E. Watch it now!

Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert are in for a big surprise. They are waiting for an orphan boy to help with the work at Green Gables – but a skinny, red-haired girl turns up instead. Feisty and full of spirit, Anne Shirley charms her way into the Cuthberts’ affection with her vivid imagination and constant chatter. It’s not long before Anne finds herself in trouble, but soon it becomes impossible for the Cuthberts to imagine life without ‘their’ Anne – and for the people of Avonlea to recall what it was like before this wildly creative little girl whirled into town.

L. M. Montgomery was born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, in 1874. A prolific writer, she published many short stories, poems and novels but she is best known for Anne of Green Gables and its sequels, inspired by the years she spent on the beautiful Prince Edward Island. Montgomery died in Toronto in 1942 and was buried in Cavendish on her beloved island.

Other books by L. M. Montgomery:

At first when I read this when I was younger I found the old English hard but now I find it really funny and enjoyable, along with the other books in the series which are equally fun!

Anne of Green Gables is a classic tale of a little girl who is an orphan and then she comes to live with the cuthberts. I would recommend as an age rating for the book 10-14

Some people may not understand this book, as it is quite old fashioned, but I think this book is really worth reading when you get to the end as she finally gets a happy ending like Anne wanted to

I loved this book. It was really heartfilling, emotional and funny in parts. I thought it was very descriptive and had alot of speech but it was really good. I think it is one of them books that you have to read a sentence once or twice to get it. I would recomend it to ages 10+!

I would probably rate this book 10/10 because it is a really good book. I especially like how anne is really quite mouthy and doesn’t really seem to care about that fact

It’s nice that a classic can still be relevent today, with bullies, fights and trying to fit in. I read this book ages ago, and i’ve just come back to it. I’m still not disappointed

I really liked this book. Although Anne is the main character I really like the impression Matthew has on the reader. You can tell he is easy going and in some ways quite shy. He lets his sister take over him in a way. It is easy to see he loves Anne alot [... spoiler!]. After i read this book i watched the film and then the sequels. I love them all!
